Brooks Blevins explores the legends and stories that shape the Ozarks and how the region is seen by others.
The folklore and oral traditions of the Ozarks contain stories and legends that comprise a regional mythology. The region has also been mythologized by outsiders for generations, leaving it shrouded in both local legends and national stereotypes. Brooks Blevins explores some of the area’s more colorful mythological elements while exposing national myths about the Ozarks and its people. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The Library Center is the headquarters of the Springfield-Greene County Library District. The 82,000-square-foot building houses major collections of print and electronic resources. These include special collections such as business and local history and genealogy; public Wi-Fi computers, four private study rooms, five small conference rooms, a kitchen and state-of-the-art reference technology. In addition, the Library Center includes other amenities characteristic of larger urban libraries. Those features include a 150-seat auditorium, a glass-enclosed reading room and art gallery, a story hour room, outdoor patio and outdoor story garden and the Between Friends Gift Shop.
