"Celebrating Native American Cultures of the Ozarks Region" exhibit opening reception and presentations.
"Celebrating Native American Cultures of the Ozarks Region" is the October-November interpretive exhibit in the series, Helping to Bring the Humanities to the Public Square. The exhibit will include a variety of Native American artifacts, including stone projectile points, basketry and beadwork. The exhibit opening reception is during the First Friday Art Walk, and will feature the presentation "Researching and Preserving Native American Artifacts" by Jessica Winslow and Kylei Giles. Children's activity sheets will be available throughout the exhibit.
The Missouri State University Museum Studies Program, Department of Art and Design, and the Park Central Branch Library, Springfield-Greene County Library System, are sponsoring this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund.

The Park Central Branch Library, an arts- and media-themed non-traditional facility, features a small collection of popular fiction and nonfiction books on face-out shelving, a wide selection of local and national newspapers and magazines and DVDs, CDs and audiobooks. More than a dozen computer stations provide downtown patrons with high-speed access to the Internet and the Library's catalog and research databases. The facility includes a self-checkout machine, a disc vending machine, gallery walls, a laptop bar and other seating. Beverages, pastries and snacks are available next door at The Coffee Ethic.
