"Keeping Warm in the Ozarks: Cast Iron Stoves in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries" is the February-March interpretive exhibition in the series Helping to Bring the Humanities to the Public Square, coordinated by Dr. Billie Follensbee of Missouri State University. This exhibition includes cast-iron stove parts excavated at the Bonniebrook Homestead, which illustrates features of different late 19th and early 20th century stoves for cooking and heating. The exhibition opening reception is during the First Friday Art Walk, and will feature the presentation "Researching and Preserving Iron Artifacts" by Missouri State University alumna Madelyn Pohl. Children's activity sheets will be available throughout the exhibition.
The Missouri State University Museum Studies Program, Department of Art and Design, and the Park Central Branch Library, Springfield-Greene County Library System, are sponsoring this program in partnership with the Missouri Humanities Council and with support from the Missouri Humanities Trust Fund.
